Today's Heart to Heart
episode goes deep into something personal to me and I'm excited to
share my thoughts. Alcohol has become such a social activity, an
escape and so deeply ingrained in our culture, that it's hard to
imagine being completely alcohol-free.
I went completely
alcohol-free for 4 months this year and it was a really interesting
experience. I didn't expect much, because I wasn't drinking that
often before…but it was a big enough difference that I really
noticed. The fogginess was gone, my sleep was deeper and more
refreshing and I just felt better as a whole. I talk about my
journey to introducing it again and how I'm feeling now about the
whole process.
I'm also going to talk
about the pressure to be productive and how I try to manage and
preserve my energy in healthy ways. This is something I talk about
a lot with my students. The temptation to work constantly and burn
yourself out is there. It's important to take a hard look at what
productivity really is and how you can accomplish the important
things without losing too much energy in the process. Rest is a
super powerful part of the equation and we'll cover how I approach
it as well.
